How harsh is Denmark with the legalisation of such changes? If anybody else knows it, I would be curious if you could get such a spoiler on a M1xx legally?

Hope you have/had safe travels!

Denmark isnt to harsh with legalization, but im not sure about the wing though.. i have a friendly tüv guy who will inspect the car as it sits without any troubles 😅

I also got some bad new though.. on my 5th lap on NOS the 23rd october, the engine completely died. Crank is seized, engine cant turn over. Basically the engine died from oil starvation, even though i had baffles in the sump from MMR.

Car was driving mega though, had so much grip, even though the track was a bit greasy and damp, i could overtake a lot of cars and have much higher cornering speed than others.

Aaaah SHIIIIIT!!! :46_confounded::52_fearful:

Man, I heard before of N55 engine troubles but this is still very tough shit. You will get it rebuilt better though, or a new one in. Did you not drive with oil about 0,5 - 1 Liter more in it than recommended? Or was that another engine I heard about where this is needed? Did you hear a loud bang or something?

Still great to hear that the car handles so well!

I had a oil slushing baffles in the sump and about 7 liters of oil in it also, but somehow all the oil still did run away from the pickup tube. It's a common problem on the N55, while that was the purpose of fitting the baffle in the sump, but Karl from 24/7 Performance told me that it wasnt enough, and guess who, was right, lol :22_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well, i tend to look forward in life, so i'm just happy, it happened now up to this winter instead of it happening, when the season starts. We are trying to find an M2 engine instead of rebuilding the old one.
The crankshaft is stuck, so the engine can't turnover, i guess every moving parts inside the engine, is toast. But man, i can tell you the grip level was Amazing in the car i did cry i little the first time i went out in the car, it was so amazing to finally be in the car again. But sadly, only for 4.5 laps, lol :4_joy:

Good you look forward! :1_grinning:

4,5 laps is not too little though! But well, you were not the first to toast a N55-engine and you are for sure not the last one!

M2 Engine is probably the go to here, should not be too hard to find I guess! Good luck for now though, maybe the deal with burstrusher works already...

Nah, it's almost 100kms of Nordschleife, before the car shit itself.

To be fair, the first couple of rounds i was building up momentum and relearning the cars behavior.
On my 5th lap (Hence 4,5 :4_joy:)  i was starting to time my lap just to see where i was laying, but just after Breidsheid, car was definately not happy.. I was going quite fast through Breidsheid, and its normal for the n55 to die in left hand corners, so going up ex-muhle the engine lack all the power, and i could just barely turn the steering (got quite heavy when engine died) to steer the car into the right side of the track.

Naah, its not the hardest thing to find, but the ones i do find, costs almost as much an used S55 with barely any kilometers on them.. So i am in a jungle for now, to find out what i want to do to the car. :34_rolling_eyes:

Well, the reason why the S55 is nearly as cheap as the N55 is simple, renewing a S55 is a lot more costly than renewing an N55 engine...

In theory there is not too much slack between these two engines, especially comparing the N55 M2 with the S55 M2 Setup. 370 hp to 410 hp is not a major difference. But the higher quality internals (so they say at least), the closed deck crankcase, the two turbos, the water intercooler and the improved oil-pump are great and really noteworthy improvements, but also not coming cheap if you got problems. And of course, the S55 is not abnoxious reliable either, the crankshaft is possibly the most known problem...

Okay, I would be really unsure, too, if I got still enough money to spare, I would go for the S55 engine, it should not be hard to be put into the car. If you want to get the car going faster and easier and the budget is a thing you are slowly getting more and more into mind, maybe stay with the N55... Of course, the S55 is probably not that much more expensive, and if it runs good you will probably never have to ask yourself the questions...

I would still be very unsure if I were you, renewing a N55 costs 5-7k € if you get it done professionally and renewing a S55 costs more lik 9-15k €... And no matter how little milage the engine has, you never truely know what you buy, if you get an used engine...

Yes, that's very true! But they seems bulletproof, if they get an aftermarket crank hub, and just run a stage 1 like tune @550ish ps.
But yes, that does not fix a snapped crankshaft but how often do they actually tend to snap?
On the other hand, there is double the moving parts on the exhaust side, a lot of cooling packs going on and so on, so yes, the engine is not as simple as the N55. Which is also a big factor to consider.

I must talk to my mechanic and hear what he can bring to the table.. :34_rolling_eyes:

So a small update to the situation of the car.

I have bought @PeterKengine from his M2. After some negotiations back and forth we landed a good deal in collaborations with his workshop and my workshop. So the 28th i will go to München to pick up the engine, and bring it directly to my mechanic at the Nürburgring.

The engine has done quite a a lot of track duties, but it seems to be holding up quite fine. At this point i will ask my mechanic to replace all the bearings in the engine, and give it a fresh chainkit.
The engine comes with an upgraded HPFP, ECU, chargepipe and is otherwise stock.
The plan is, his workshop takes out the engine of his car in the following week.

So since i am going to München, i will go to the BMW museum there, and enjoy life a little, other things that i should do or see, while im around? :34_rolling_eyes:

Okay, good to hear you are progressing! Would love to see some pictures. And feel free to text me if you like some company while being in munich, can't guarantee I am free, but I can try.

Car wise I really don't know what else I can recommend in munich. The BMW World and the BMW museum next to it will fill a good part of your day anyways. Maybe start the day with a bavarian breakfast in a local inn, but beware it is heavy and will make you most likely feel a bit lethargic, afterwards go to the BMW world and museum. Then I would recommend going to the Viktualienmarkt, maybe get somethig for your wife there and have a little lunch/afternoon snack. Then stroll over to the Marienplatz, from there to the Frauenkirche and Odeonsplatz. Now you have two choices, either if the weather is nice, go to the Englischen Garten on the north east, where you will even in cold weather be able to enjoy looking a bit at surfers at the surfers wave and a nice stroll to the Chinesischer Turm Biergarten, where you can get some more food, but only till like 18:00. Otherwise in bad weather turn west and check out the Alte Pinakothek and Königsplatz (or just the beer museum, local shops or go straight to an inn, we call them Gasthaus/Gaststätte). In my point of view a good end, or place for the dinner, is the Augustinerkeller (not the Augustiner Bräustüberl, that is worse in my pov food wise). You can enjoy some beer and good traditional food there as dinner.

Beware though, this is not exactly a light program. Otherwise there is simply too much to do, history WW2 related, more like architectural, the olympic tower, the Allianz Arena or just go to the beer museum.

Sounds like a 2 day sigthseeing :4_joy: I will only have a the 27th to see something, but i will for sure go to the BMW world/Museum with my wife. Then try some of the local Münich beer/food before heading to the Hotel and crash for the night.

I would have loved to meet you mate, but im on a tight schedule on this trip, so i will only be there for one night, and in the morning of the 28th i will drive straight to HW motorsport in Valley after the breakfast.
Then i have about 6-7 hours driving to Nürburgring.
But it does sounds like i need to come back to München to see a lot more.. I love everything related to WW2 and history in general..

Lucky me, I have barely any time myself, half my family is born in December. I would have tried to free some time up for you, but that way it is more convenient anyways. :4_joy:

Maybe if I am allowed I might crash your meeting at valley, always keen on looking at cars and having a good talk. :1_grinning: Maybe I can be of some help loading the engine. With what car are you going to transport the engine?

And yeah, @Alexpointed the motorworld out, that is probably worth a look, too, maybe even better than BMW world. Completely forgot about it even though I have been there more recently than in the BMW world.

Wow, so not only is the christmas expensive, but on top of that, quite a few birthday also. Bwoah.. :25_money_mouth:

If you really want to give a hand with that, that would be very nice! PeterK isnt around to help, because he will be in Canada, so its really only the folks at around the garage who can help loading the engine.
So i am bringing a trailer behind my normal car, and all 4 sides of the trailer can be removed, so it should be doable to load it without to much hassle.

I tried to do some research about motorworld, but im not completely sure what it is and what they offer besides a cool restaurant and some huge spaces for events.. So what am i missing here? :34_rolling_eyes:

Just a small update:
27th Dec i drove to München, and picked up the engine from @PeterKat HW motorsport. Very cool place with the best view to the Alps.
Engine was loaded on to my trailer, with the help from Philipp @Ganythank you for your help and it was very nice to meet you. I hopefully will see you at the ring this year.

Engine was then delivered 600kms to the North-West at the Nürburgring, i stayed in the area for 2 days, and was lucky enough, that i was allowed to borrow a lift and work on my car.
So plan was to mount my AP brakekit from 55 parts. long story short, the product they sell is bullshit, and the goods were delivered back to them on the 30th dec when i drove home.

Old engine is out of the car and the new engine is going to a specialist to have new bearings fitted and have a checkup of the engine before its going into the car
A lot of nice things will also come to the car, cage, brakekit from 24/7 performance, and so on and so on.

What you are writing here is totally wrong…

We are using a full floating setup with float in the disc. The only thing we are doing different then almost everybody else is we use anti rattle hardware for the connection from bell to the disc!

Why? Because without the disc makes all kind of noises. Stating it’s not fully floating is in fact wrong.

24/7 uses exactly the same calipers but pfc discs. In case of for example tom schütze the pfc discs had almost 1/4 the life of our ap discs and they are almost 4 times more expensive.

We have really a lot of crazy fast cars which all run our AP Setups, all perfectly fine since years.

Normally I don’t react to such kind of posts because we sell a lot of those kits and every customer is 100% happy and I don’t care what is written….

Here in the forum alone are, I think, around 10 people or more using them.

You bought a custom set in September and we made everything happened so you could pick it up.

Now, since Karl from 24/7 is telling our setup is not working (which is utterly nonsense) to avoid anyone being unhappy I offered to give back everything besides the calipers. So I took back only half of the parts and kept a fair amount of cash for the calipers. I now have a set of brackets and bells here which are basically unusable because we usually do not sell this kind of setup. Although we would be totally right to neglect giving half of the items, specially made for you, after 2 months back I just did it because, like I said, I just wanted to make everyone happy.

Thinking about this alone it’s crazy you write wrong things here telling our brakes are „bullshit“.

But on top of that you even brought those discs in looking like they were laying outside in the rain for 2 months- see the pictures.

I’m totally blown away by this.

Just fyi: anybody who knows something about brakes can clearly see that this is indeed a fully floating setup we sell….
