So, the rim and tire issue is history for now. I installed the wheels yesterday.
    Protrack one 10x19 ET20 with 265/30 and 11X19 ET44 with 295/30 Nankang CR-S.
TÜV tomorrow and then I'll be done with purchases for this season.

Welcome to the forum and to our dirty hobby..
Sit tight and be prepared for the journey.. It will be a wild ride from here on, you already caught a small bug.. The more you start to enjoy driving on track, the more you will fix what the car isnt capable off.. But the M2C is quite capable out of the box..

The best advice on financial stuff is what ever suits your household and also what you personally want to get out of life.
We can all just say our opinions here. But as we know opinions are like assholes; everybody has one.

So in terms of what you should do is up to you.
Maybe the smartest thing isn't the worst or even the worst advice isn't the wrongest. Who knows. You only know that down the road.
I've done a fair amount of stupid things, that turned out to be absolutely mega..
But things always go up and down, up and down, housing market too.. Up and down up and down. One day your house is worth 1 million euros, next day its worth 100k euros..

It has to come down to what you dream about that keeps motivating you in the direction you see yourself and your family. Define what is happiness for you.
I wont sit here and tell you what you have to do, you are a grown man and are perfectly capable of taking decisions yourself, you already did so, and look where you are standing.
But I can relate a bit to you.. I grew up, differently to most people..
Yet here we are, still breathing and have people who loves us, as we are.

  4. Made another carbon fiber panel. This time for the interior.
I also managed to mock up the new computer for datalogging and laptiming. This is build on an Raspberry Pi connected to a 10" touchscreen, running on android system. It is useable with google play too, so you can use google maps, youtube or stream music directly to your headphones, when driving between track over smaller distances. The sky is the limit basically for this system.
Carbon fiber plate and computer are currently set to cure after being fully glued together. another 24 hours has to pass by, undtil it possible to build more into the console.
Computer, screen, carbon plate, weighs less than 700 gram.

I personally can't actually confirm that. The ns2r was just a bad tire but no louder than the ad08 or the Federal. With the AR1, however, I really thought the car was going to fall apart :4_joy:

On my car, the NS2R sounded like 4 dead wheel bearings.. The Ar1, just kinda sings, and the faster you go the louder they get. But they never really have that low rumble as i experienced with NS2R, which was really loud when you hit 80-90m/h.. Together with the harder compound, and just as stiff sidewall as the ar1, they where even chrashier over bumps compared to ar1. I agree, the NS2R is really just a bad tire.

Do you think that the CR-S is better than the cup2 ??

Absolutely! Without the least doubt at any kind.
Cup2 for the BMW's are one of the slowest tires you can buy for the track. But its prettyr okay for daily driving. The CR-S are better, although ive only did a few test with it so far. But it has more grip when it gets warm.

    That's the reason I haven't driven a Nankang yet.
I always have very long journeys to the race track and don't want to have sudden hearing loss after every track day:4_joy:

Since i've now driven every Nankang semi on the same car, i can say that the CR-S are really aimed for customers like you!
Drive to the track, do your thing and drive back home again, without losing your ears or the comfort.
So i'm sure you wont be dissapointed by them.
But the AR1, is really a bang for your buck track tire.. If you can live with the noise and the concrete feel (on track) you rarely find the same price/performance by other makers. But then again noise.. Listen to a Direzza.. :4_joy:

The Nankang CR-S is supposed to be really good. I spoke to the boss of Protrack on the phone because I had ordered Protrack one rims. He ordered a container full of it. He told me that the CR-S should be very good.
Above all, the CR-S should finally be so quiet that you don't constantly think that you have wheel bearing damage. That's how it is with the AR-1

Haha, try ride NS2R :-D they are much worse than AR1 :-D

  9. Alright, time to gve a little extra verdict on the CR-S.

A few days ago, we had low temperatures, but full sun and dry road surfaces. Temps where +4 degrees.
I did a short drive, 20-30kms, going to fuel the car, and then drove some back roads, with more bumps and twisty roads.

Alright, as soon the tires got to just about palm heat ca 30degrees or so, the rubber goes from very hard, to a delicate soft touch. Think of ar1 soft when ar1 is stored cool. With the temps around palm warm, the grip was coming in nicely, tire seems to be more predictable. I didn't push on at all, i just tried to feel the dynamics.. The sidewalls are pretty stiff, but so far, i don't feel the tire rides as hard as the ar1. My friend Henning, used sometime ago a phrase, that the AR1 feels like riding on concrete tires. The CR-S doesnt have this feelign when they gets a little heat.
They do have that feeling when they are very cold and the surface are damp, but that is not a surprise, when you feel the rubber is very hard from the manufaturing process but also stored cold.
Ive parked the car up again for several weeks, snow just landed here 2 days ago, again, so testing is set on pause so far.
I still feel the tires remind me of cup2, but with more feedback, and less mushy feel.
I have to say, cup2 is not a tire i would like to drive, so with the CR-S distincing further away from them, is imo a very good sign.
Noise level are still very low, i do prefer a tire that is loud, because my diff screams so much, that its hard to hear the tires squeeling in the corners. So for me its a new learning curve. But i am going to address the noise of the diff, to lower it a bit. Involving a plate over the axle containng some sound absorbtion material. if i can lower something 2-3db, that would be absolutely awesome.
The quaife helical geared diff is a no joke when it comes to sound level. I would say even a sequential will have a hard time overpowering the noise level..
    We went off track here..

A couple pics of the fitment of the 265/35-18 cr-s on a 10j. Absolutely perfect fitment. The 9.5j is too narrow imo, which is advised by Nankang.

For the front, depends on the tire. With an A052, AD09 or even CUP2 I wouldn't have to worry about there being too much strain. An AR1 probably wouldn't be suitable.
If I look at my A052 on the 10", I would say that it still sits well on a 10.5".

    Here's AD09 11" vs. AR1 10.5" both 295/30
    IMG_6931.jpeg

Is not really a surprise.. Try measure the tread width on both tires. You will see that the AR1 is 278mm.. Hardly a 295 tire..

  11. First set of Nankang CR-S to ever hit the road in Denmark.
Unlucky for me, the ar1 which was mounted on the car got a puncture. Luckily i had a set of CR-S in stock, so might aswell mount those.

Out of the box in damp and cold road, suuuuper sketchy!
Noise very low, comparable to Cup2. Feedback is lacking compared to Ar1, but this is based on 100kms driven so far.
Lets review that, when i get a chance to scrub in the tires on track.

@VikingPowerThanks for your interest! I will send you an invitation as soon as all English translations are ready.

At the moment there is no detailed business plan / model or a roadmap where the platform will develope, hence what I want to do is a soft launch with constant user feedback. More of an agile method.

The idea behind the platform evolved a bit over time from an international central rental track car database only, to a platform for the different aspects around our loved "tracktools". I didn't want to create yet another social network, I think there are enough. The focus of the platform really is on cars and functionality. There are 3 areas at the moment.

    Digital garage / car profile
I simply developed something which I'd personally love to use to organize and document my hobby a bit better. Therefore I created the digital garage / car profile with which you are able to track the modifications, maintenance, trackdays, laptimes etc. I think there is a lot of potential in there also to interact with work shops, part suppliers, other tracktool owners etc .

    Rental cars
I will try to integrate the best rental companies and cars for hopefully the best race tracks in the world. We will have an exclusive partner for each track, the first is RSR for the Nurburgring and Spa. More to come soon. There is no plan that private users of the platform will be able to offer their cars as rentals as I think this is not something most of the people would do. Maybe taxi drives but this would be too much of a legal hassle for everyone involved.

    Marketplace
The marketplace is also still evolving, there are some ideas. The first service is a canvas art service where you can order a hand made painting of your car in a large format. The plan is to integrate services and products which are mainly motorsport and car centric as we are all pretty much fans of the sport and cars in general.

I hope it's a bit more clear now!

    Sounds good!
Alright, that makes good sense, and thank you for elaborating in detail.
    The digital garage sounds mega!

  13. I like the idea, but are also not entirely sure, what its all about and if the main attraction point are only Buy/Sell/Rent platform and a "facebook" like interface/platform for cars.

As i understand, you want to make a database, for the users personal trackcars? (In that case, i guess you also want them to communicate on a platform, like a forum or like twitter/facebook?)
Then you also want to showcase where to rent trackcars, around the tracks in EU, probably mainly focusing on Nordschleife for now. But i guess you also thought about users renting their trackcars to others? (i'm not sure how insurance would go with that, if any)
And then you want a combined marketplace for both individual and business customers, who can sell/buy cars, parts and similar items for the segment.

Is that how i should understand the way you more or less want to go?

Because if so, then i would be happy to join too, since it would probably gather more international people together, especially from the EU region. Trackday forum are mainly a german site, but we are a few non germans in here.

  14. Chasing the O.G 1 series cup car.
This picture really tells a full story and it has a lot of personal value to me.
You see something for the first time, you dream about it, you chase it, you finally got it.. And then you get the opportunity to seal the memory and hang it on the wall.

Aah okay.. Fyi, it only costs 175 eur if you buy directly with Padborg. Including a sandwich and a water. But then 0800-1600 and soft drink+coffee is on top.. But 45 euros arent that much difference.. Do you drive in groups or open as normal?
Lets continue in Private, so we don't hijack the thread even more.

    Sorry everyone.

For me it's about 1 hour driving to Padborg.
Our first track day this year at Padborg will be on the 23rd of March.

    Nice!
I'm not sure if I'm there on that date, because that is the Easter week, and I do plan to go, to the Nürburgring to get the alignment done on the car and start the season from there on.. But in the end, lets see. If I come to Padborg, I'll let you know..
Oh by the way, don't you mean the 25th of March?
